Halfway at the Nirvana OceanQuest Freediving Competition

It has been 3 exiciting days at the Nirvana Oceanquest AIDA freediving competition on the island of San Andres, Colombia.  They are now officially at it's halfday point and the athletes had a much needed rest day today.  The competition has a special atmosphere, as many of the athletes are competing for the first time, and the air is filled with youthful excitement.  There were plenty of happy faces as the nerves settled and the white cards kept coming.

So, what were some of the highlights from these last 3 days?

Walid Boudhiaf opened up the competiton with an impressive FIM dive to 103M.

Maria Belen de la Vega or Belu Dlv, from Argentina set a new national record on the first day with a FIM dive to 40M.  She broke her own record with a FIM dive to 43M on the 3rd day.
